On 16 May 2026, the Lagos Cultural Centre will host an event dedicated to transformation and the power of ideas.
TEDxPraça Gil Eanes returns to Lagos on 16 May 2026 with the theme ‘Metamorphosis – The Beauty of Change’, promising an inspiring journey about the beauty, challenges and impact of change. The event will take place at the Lagos Cultural Centre and will bring together speakers and artists from different fields to share stories, experiences and perspectives on the process of human and collective transformation.
Inspired by the exploratory spirit of Gil Eanes, a symbol of the courage to go beyond the known, TEDxPraça Gil Eanes 2026 invites the public to reflect on how we transform ourselves internally and how this influences the world around us.
‘Change is inevitable, but it is in how we experience it that our true growth lies. “Metamorphosis” is an invitation to introspection and action - a celebration of the courage to reinvent oneself,’ explains Elena Dimitrova, curator of the event.
A stage for ideas that transform
This year's programme will feature talks, performances and interactive experiences, addressing topics such as self-knowledge, sustainability, innovation, art, science and community.
Each speaker will bring a unique perspective on the power of change — from personal stories of overcoming adversity to transformative visions of our collective future.
TEDxPraça Gil Eanes has established itself as one of the most inspiring events in the Algarve, attracting not only the local audience but also the international community residing in the region.
‘We want the audience to leave the event different from how they entered — with new questions, new ideas and a renewed outlook on themselves and the world,’ adds Elena Dimitrova.
On the theme: “Metamorphosis – The Beauty of Change”
The concept of Metamorphosis is inspired by the beauty and complexity of the process of change — an invitation to introspection and the courage to evolve.
Over the course of a day of lectures and performances, the event will explore the power of personal transformation, the dynamics of collective growth, and the lessons that the natural world offers us about adaptation and rebirth.
