It's late August, and old farmhouse trees are dropping fruit faster than it can be picked, days reach around 28°C, nights stay around 23°C, and several towns are planning full-moon events on Thursday and Friday this week.
Then Saturday arrives and the whole Algarve seems to move at once. On 29th August, the region heads to the sea at midnight, with full-day celebrations in Lagos and Praia da Luz, a municipal holiday in Aljezur, and a five-day medieval festival at a castle in the east.
