The heat has eased: 27°C by day, 18°C before sunrise, ten hours of sun, and a sea still holding 23°C. The car parks are more empty but the events calendar does the opposite, moving inland.
This is the weekend when the Algarve celebrates on its rivers. Alcoutim brings three nights of concerts and fireworks to the Guadiana quay, with the lights of Spain glowing across the water, close enough for the echoes to carry.
