Currency Market Update: July 30th 2026 - Pound in Focus as Bank of England Decision Looms

Currency Market UpdateThe Federal Reserve's meeting last night saw them keep their rates unchanged as was expected, however off the back of the meeting we saw the Dollar have its worst day in 4 weeks.

A few reasons contributed to this, the first being those markets earlier in the week had started to price in a 38% chance of a rate hike, so there has been a correction within the markets.

Secondly, the new Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh has now confirmed an end to any forward guidance when talking about interest rates. In the meeting last night, Warsh confirmed The Federal Reserve would look to keep rates higher-for-longer, but stopped from even mentioning any possibility of a rate hike in September.
