With just over a week to go we are moving into top gear at the Guadiana Festival with a line up of acts published on the web page today.
We now have over 40 musicians performing at the Quay, Alcoutim in the eastern Algarve during the weekend 24 to 26 October, with bands and performers from Faro, Huelva, Villa Real, Ireland, Belgium, Alcoutim and some boat people with no fixed abode.
Cheeky Monkey is a great success and you can hear it being whistled and sung all over the town. With it’s infectious rhythm and catchy lyrics it’s just one of those songs you can’t get out of your head, love it or hate it!
Our hot news is a late comer to the line up, the fantastic "El Hombre Orquesta” which really encompasses the ethos of the festival of music and fun from all over the world.
A one man band with a difference, Bots left his native Belgium 10 years ago on a bicycle and spent the next 5 years with a group called the “Cyclowncircus” learning his trade all over Europe and Asia. He then spent 2 years in Berlin playing with several bands and learning to play the Tuba.
Once again he got the travel bug, purchased a boat in Greece, sailed to The Canaries and then ended up in Portugal this September where we bumped into him and his Orquesta.
Bots takes music, adds in a little modern technology and comes up with very entertaining and amusing New Orleans Old Timey Jazz.
This may not at first be your type of music, but the way he puts it all together, it comes across as just fantastic entertainment, that will make you change your mind.
