The summer has ended with rain, hail and thunder on its way

rainRain, hail and thunder are forecast for Portugal, thus ending an extended summer that has boosted tail-end tourist bookings.

The Algarve started off grey today with intermittent drizzle. Increasing wind speeds are expected to build up, bringing rain across the mainland during the evening.

The Portuguese weather service has given a yellow warning to all districts as rain, hail and thunderstorms are expected.
 
The south, as usual, manages to escape the worst and may get away with a weaker wind and just showers as the evening progresses.

Temperatures in the Algarve have plummeted with beachgoers enjoying 30 degrees plus last week, replaced with a chilly 17 to 20°C in Faro today.
