Judicial Police officers have tracked down and arrested a 26-year-old man for robbing and killing Delmira Miranda, an 83-year-old Faro pensioner, in her own home last Sunday.
The man also is suspected of kicking in the door, beating and robbing a 95-year-old women, this time in Olhão last Saturday. This victim was rushed to Faro hospital where her condition remains ‘serious’.
There may also have been a third victim on Saturday in Olhão, attacked in a similar way.
Of the Faro robbery, the police say that the arrested man "broke down the front door of a one-story house in the city center” and assaulted the elderly woman who died at the scene while he, "seized property belonging to the victim."
The detainee has a criminal record and today will be up before the judicial authorities to determine whether bail is appropriate.
