Algarve hotel income up 12% so far this year

hotel3The Algarve's hotel association has reported that, in relation to 2015, November 2016 had an average quarterly occupancy rate of 45.3%, an increase of 4.1% for this low-season month.

The occupancy rate for the region's hotels went up by 3.7% with the British leading the flight from northern Europe,  up 3.6%, followed by the French (+ 0.8%) and the Germans (+ 0.7%).

Bookings from the national Portuguese and Spanish markets registered declines, in line with a year-long trend (-0.7% and -0.3% respectively).
 
In accumulated terms, since the beginning of the year, the occupancy rate has increased by 6.7% and turnover increased by 12.1% due to general room charge increases.
 
The highest occupancy increases occurred in Albufeira (+12%) and Lagos / Sagres (+11.2%).


December hotel prices in the Algarve, compared to last year, have gone up 19.61% and are the fastest growing in the country, according to data from the Trivago Hotel Price Index.

The average overall increase across the country this year has been 2.60%.
