British low-cost airline Jet2 has launched a new year-round air link from London’s Stansted Airport to Funchal, Madeira.
Flights are on Monday and Friday with prices starting at £35.
Nearly 190 people boarded the first flight which took off from Stansted and arrived in Funchal on Monday, April 3.
Jet2 now runs six air links between the UK and Madeira and plans to launch two more (Edinburgh and Birmingham) in October, according to a statement by Portuguese airports authority ANA.
“This is great news for Madeira, as it represents the strengthening of our ties to an extremely important market,” said Eduardo Jesus, the archipelago’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Economy and Culture.
