A long-awaited project to build a new exhibition, fair and open market area in São Bartolomeu de Messines, Silves will see contractors start work on June 12th.
The €981,000 investment is planned to be completed within nine months.
The new multipurpose space is for fairs, shows and various other recreational activities and has been on the drawing board for years.
The new space includes the creation of 180-car parking area, green areas and seating.
There also is a remodeled motorhome service area and bus terminal, and Silves council asks for "maximum understanding" from those who use the area for fairs and from the bus service and motorhome owners all of whom will be moved, temporarily, to adjacent land which has been prepared for this purpose.
