A well-organised team of burglars that have caused misery to householders have been arrested as its members were preparing to flee the country.
Three men and a woman, suspected of carrying out a spate of break-ins across the Algarve in recent weeks, were arrested on Wednesday, June 14, by criminal investigation officers from Portimão’s GNR base.
The suspects, aged between 30 and 45, were tracked down and arrested, according to the GNR, as they prepared to leave the country with the proceeds of their criminal activity, including €149,000 in cash.
The GNR confiscated the money, pieces of jewelry, eight mobile phones, six watches and various housebreaking tools.
Two further individuals have been identified as being part of the gang. The detainees already have been up before the court in Portimão.
