Management at the Adriana Beach Club Resort Hote, in Albufeira, were so distressed at an English father’s state of inebriation, while he was meant to be caring for his twin boys, that they called in the GNR.
The Brit was “visibly drunk” according to staff at a the resort, who feared for the safety of the children who had been left alone in the pool area while the father got drunk at the bar.
The twins now are being looked after in temporary accommodation in Faro on the orders of a court as the man clearly was not able to take care of his children.
The case has been handed over to the family court in Portimão where the 45-year-old widower will have to explain his blood alcohol level reading and the fact that this was not the first time he had been incapable through drink on what was supposed to be a family holiday.
The English children were removed from their father’s care by the GNR, who then called the Red Cross whose staff took the toddlers to Faro hospital for a check-up, later being referred to the Aboim Ascensão children’s home.
