The State prosecution service has filed charges against two Ukrainians, aged 40 and 46, for murdering and robbing a homeless man in Loulé this April.
The fatal attack during which a 54-year-old fellow Ukrainian was strangled to death, took place near the municipal stadium in Loulé.
The accused argued with the victim, killed him and them called the emergency ambulance service. Both have been held in prison since their arrest.
The Ukrainians suspected of killing the homeless man are accused of "strangling and jumping on the body of a man, inflicting injuries that caused his death," according to the charges.
The defendants had no defined occupations, lived inside vehicles parked at the scene and the reason for the attack seems to have resulted from an argument among the three that clearly got out of control.
An autopsy showed the victim has been strangled and that some of his ribs were broken.
