Panic as Ryanair flight turns back for emergency landing

ryanair12A Ryanair flight out of Lisbon today was forced to return shortly after take-off.

The service to Oporto had only been in the air a few minutes when there were "technical problems" that caused the pilot to turn back, triggering an emergency landing proceedure.

A misguided spokesman from French-owned airports operator, Aeroportos de Portugal, said the landing happened “in the normal course of events,” but a Ryanair  spokesman admitted the aircraft has depressurised a very short time of take-off.

According to passengers, there was an "abrupt drop" of air pressure inside the aircraft, the emergency alarm sounded and the on board oxygen masks had automatically been activated.

There were moments of panic inside the plane, not helped by the emergency alarm and the pilot trying to "stabilise the plane."
