Cristiano Ronaldo faces jail over Spanish tax affairs

ronaldoSpain’s tax authority has rejected Cristiano Ronaldo's offer to regularise his tax situation so the €15 million case will proceed to court.

The Spanish Treasury will pursue its legal complaint against the famous footballer who is accused of tax fraud in the amount of €14.76 million relating to undeclared income from image rights between 2011 and 2014.

Ronaldo proposed a payment of between €4 and €5 million to settle the case but the Real Madrid player’s offer was rejected as being “unsatisfactory” and the amount "insignificant" compared to the €15 million it is after on behalf of Spanish taxpayers.

El Mundo newspaper said there had been a second, ‘blank cheque’ offer, from Ronaldo who faces the prospect of jail. This proposal also was rejected by the Treasury.

In June 2017, it was reported that the footballer was wanted for evading €14.76 million in tax, after he had taken full advantage of a corporate structure created in 2010, one year after being hired by Real Madrid, in order to "hide from the Treasury the revenues generated in Spain" through his image rights.

Quoting Jack Reacher:
I am sure if I fiddled my tax books I would be sent to jail. Lock him up. Rules for the rich and rules for the poor.. EU democracy is alive and kicking.

A bit rich from someone who, I assume, is English and whose capital city is Londonograd!!!

The problem is not just Real Madrid's. Spiegel International. the German paper, has regularly dug up useful Footie Leaks revelations - taken from a Portuguese football agents hard drive. Including several articles on Messi's avoidance of tax at Barcelona. But somehow the Portuguese have squirreled their man into the Investigative Journalists team who has then suppressed any serious revelations of Portuguese Clubs or players wrong doings. Including strange hush money Ronaldo finally paid, after much haggling at his end, to silence an American girl who claimed to have r*p*d' by this chap. So important he has an airport named after him.

This illustrates very well the big difference between Portugal and the rest of the world ....

Interesting that only footballers that play in Spain are caught fiddling the tax man. The spanish want to look up Ronaldo because they face Portugal in the world cup :))
