Love it or hate it, the Algarve’s largest and newest shopping centre has won an award in the annual real estate project awards.
MAR Shopping Algarve near Loulé, was the winner of the 2018 National Real Estate Prize - Commerce category, and picked up the award in a ceremony held in Cascais.
The director general of MAR Shopping Algarve commented,
"We receive this distinction with great pride. It is the recognition of a project that was created to offer the Algarve and Portugal a different sort of shopping centre, which, besides guaranteeing a wide commercial offer with the IKEA store many other innovative shops, offers a unique leisure dynamic that invites our visitors to spend time never before experienced in a shopping centre.”
Herman Gewert added, “We are about to complete six months of operation and we could not be prouder to win this distinction.”
The IKEA Group piled €200 million into the site that includes MAR Shopping Algarve, an IKEA store and the Designer Outlet Algarve as well as a Leroy Merlin site.
