Faro’s parishes are putting the finishing touches to the 2018 Cheese and Wine Fair that will take place from 19 to 22 April in the Manuel Bivar Gardens, in the regional capital.
The event will enable "visitors to deepen their knowledge in an area of great strategic interest for the economy of our country, one that needs to be valued and promoted, strengthening the territorial cohesion and importance of endogenous products in the economy, tradition and Portuguese identity.”
Over four days, visitors can visit the many small bars to sample cheese, sausages, sweets and regional wines – all under cover in an 800m2 tent.
Producers are travelling from far and wide, bringing cheeses from Serpa, Nisa, Moura, Serra da Estrela, Serra da Gardunha and Mirandela. The wines on offer will be from producers in the Algarve, Alentejo, Bairrada, Beira Interior, Dão and Douro.
Drinkers can buy a glass and wander through the fair sampling wine from the regions and buy bottles for later consumption.
More than three dozen stands will be promoting and publicising food and drink from Portugal.
Free admission and many free samples will be on offer.
Thursday and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The bars open at 12 noon.
