After offering to help a young British tourist, who complained of feeling unwell, a barman forced her to have sex with him in the storage area of an Albufeira bar, she alleges.The teenager ended up being treated in hospital and the 28-year-old Portuguese man later was arrested by the police.
The attack occurred in the early hours of April 18th. The victim and the man, "did not know each other," said the police.
The tourist had been drinking and said she had felt unwell after consuming a drink served to her by the man in the Meet bar. Offering assistance, the barman led her to the bar's storage area where he is alleged to have raped her. She alerted officers from the GNR on the morning of the incident who involved the police.
The barman has been to court and later released. He now must report to police every two weeks.
