Petrol price rise - nine times in nine weeks

petrolpumpThe price of petrol and diesel is going up again on Monday - for petrol, this is nine price rises in nine weeks.

Fuel in Portugal will hit a new three year high due to the rise in the international oil price the continuing poor performance of the euro against the US dollar.

Oil hit its highest price in four years this week, with Brent crude trading in London at $78 due to the export sanctions that the United States is going to impose on Iran and the generally troubled geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

Due to these factors, a metric ton of gasoline and diesel has risen 3% with Portugal’s filling stations expected to raise prices by 2 cents per litre from Monday.
Thus, drivers can expect to be paying €1.56 a litre for ‘simples’ fuel against a current average of €1.547 this week.

In the case of diesel, the price will rise from this week’s average of €1.33 to around €1.35.

In both cases, this is the highest price in three years with the price of fuels rising 5% this year compared to last.
