British woman hit by train near Lagos

trainA woman was hit by a train in the Meia-Praia area of Lagos and immediately was killed.
 
According to Correio da Manhã, the victim is a 60-year-old Britsh woman who was on holiday in the region and was hit by the westbound service. Later reports claimed that the woman was 73 and was out for a walk with a friend when the accident happened at a pedestrian crossing.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning, May 13, and authorities were alerted at 10:21 am. Although the railway line is fenced off, there are a number of vehicle and pedestrian-only crossing points along the stretch of line where the incident happened.
 
At the scene were 12 firefighters from Lagos, an emergency INEM medical team and local GNR.
 
The Algarve line was closed down for some hours, while emergency personnel removed her body and attended to the site of the accident.
 
The body was transported to the Institute of Legal Medicine to be autopsied.
