Alvor flying instructor dies in crash

INEM125Internationally respected flying instructor, Eduardo Ferreira, has died in a paragliding accident near the football field at Alvor’s beach area.
 
The 49-year-old, highly experienced flyer and instructor, received emergency medical treatment at the crash site but was declared dead at the scene on Sunday morning, May 20th.
 
Ferreira’s motorised paraglider crashed between the football field and the beach at 11:30am after witnesses saw the paraglider in difficulties that resulted in a  violent impact with the ground.
 
Eduardo Ferreira managed and was the flight instructor, at the FlyAlvor paramotor school.
 
Portimão Bombeiros rushed to the crash site and were joined by an INEM emergency medical team and the Maritime Police but there was nothing they could do to save him.
 
Ferreira’s family have said the funeral ceremony will take place in Portimão’s Igreja do Colégio at 10am on Wednesday, May 23rd and thanks the overwhelming number of message of condolence and support.
