Olhão’s mayor promotes local businesses at Paris tourism fair

olhaoNightFor the second consecutive year, Olhão Council has led a group of local businesses at the Real Estate and Tourism Fair in Paris, including several of the city’s estate agencies, to encourage exports and property purchases.

Organised by the Franco-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the three day fair at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre gave Olhão’s mayor, António Pina, the opportunity to consolidate his links with French businesses and to encourage them to set up in his municipality.

The main thrust was property and many of the city’s estate agencies were represented, including local independents, Top Marquês and MVP.

During the exhibition, Pina signed a protocol with the Franco-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to assist companies based in Olhão that wish to export to, or have representation in France.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has agreed to publicise Portuguese products and services to the French market - Manná fish products, Fazenda do Cré liqueurs and Terras de Olhão olive oil, being three examples.

The Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, joined Pina in stating that, "our presence this year is a direct consequence of the success that we registered last year, both in terms of publicising the attractiveness of our county to the French public, and in terms of the turnover generated here by the companies that accompany us. This success is easily seen through the growing number of French people who are choosing Olhão for holidays or to buy a permanent home."

Of the 170 exhibitors at the Salão do Imobiliário e do Turismo, Olhão was the only Council represented.
