A head-on collision between a passenger car and a light goods vehicle has killed a 38-year-old man and seriously injured three others.
Among the wounded is an eight-year-old.
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, on the IC1, Palheiros in the Ourique area.
The alert was given at 18:01 this evening with teams from the Ourique and Castro Verde firefighters on site, as well as teams from the GNR and emergency medical institute, INEM.
A helicopter was scrambled to take the three injured to Beja hospital.
The traffic was cut in both directions while the emergency services worked to help the injured and to clear the site.
