An 88-year-old man was injured when his car was hit by a train at a level crossing in Portimão.
The accident happened early on Saturday afternoon with an alert received by emergency services at 13.37.
The incident was near the railway station so the train was travelling slowly but the car driver was injured and taken to the nearby Portimão hospital.
Services were suspended on the Algarve’s railway line while the car was removed and the debris cleared up.
