New recipes are promised at this year's popular gastronomy festival in Castro Marim, to encourage the consumption of snails.
The Caracol International Festival also offers a diverse cultural programme between July 20th and 22nd along with Spanish, French and Moroccan cuisine.
The event opens on Friday, July 20, at 7:00 pm, with a street performance from the group, Pardais à Solta.
The Nelson Conceição Trio will play at 8.00pm, with tango and accordion music. At 10:00 pm, the Spanish group, ‘Calle Puraza,’ will be on stage with Flamenco-Pop.
On Saturday, July 21st, the festival starts at 6:30 p.m. with Pardais à Solta. At 8.00pm Music from Morocco will be performed by Al-Sultan Wal Awtar. At 9:00 pm, the flamenco group Gracia Diaz will keep the gig going. Saturday’s closing act is Os Quatro & Meia, Portuguese music with guitar, double bass, violin, accordion, mandolin and percussion.
On the last day, July 22, the festival again starts at 6.30 pm, with street performances followed by the Conjunto Memórias de António Mafra, recalling one of the biggest names in Portuguese popular music.
This edition of the International Caracol Festival closes with Amantes d’Fado, at 9.30 pm.
Castro Marim wants to be seen as a place to enjoy the best snails in the Algarve while boosting local and traditional products, as well as Mediterranean cuisine and culture.
Local restaurants have joined the International Caracol Festival, including café Serafim, the O Forte restaurant and the O Sapal snack bar which will be offering their particular recipes.
