The Algarve’s tourist board has launched a campaign to encourage all age groups of locals and foreigners to enjoy, respect and protect the region’s natural environment.
"Algarve, Beautiful for Nature" will be publicised until the end of October and focuses on how best to enjoy the natural heritage of the Algarve region.
The campaign focuses on air pollution, clean beaches, risky behaviour close to forests and emphasises the crucial role that people play in making sure forest fires are not started accidentally.
"We want this campaign to be positive, to inspire change of attitude and to improve our community behavior. We will preserve the beauty and safety of the Algarve," said the president of the tourist board, Desidério Silva, who leaves office next month.
The campaign will run on-line as this reaches more people and is more ecological, according to the tourist board.
Social networks will be used to publicise several films on the campaign themes but there will be billboard advertising, radio spots and ads in those regional press titles that have not been blacklisted for speaking out about the tourist board’s inefficiencies, biased behaviour and inefficiencies.
Tour operators have not been left out, they are getting an ‘Environment Friendly Operator's Guide.’
This campaign is part of the ‘Natural Algarve - Promotion of the Natural Heritage of the Algarve," a project co-financed by the FEDER, through CRESC Algarve 2020.
