Minister inbound for EN125 photo opportunity

roadworksKeen as ever for a ,photo opportunity, the immaculately turned out Minister for Infrastructure, Pedro Marquês, is to pay a visit to the Algarve.

The mission, and he has chosen to accept it, is to be photographed looking pleased at sections of new tarmac on the EN125 between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António.

The July 25th visit to the 'emergency EN125 road works' will commence at 5:30pm at an especially smooth section of new surface in Olhão. The minister will be met by the photogenic Mayor of Olhão, António Pina.

Minister Marquês is bringing some back-up in the form of José Serrano Gordo, the vice president of Infraestruturas de Portugal, whose company already has commented that the execution of this work, "ensures a significant improvement in the conditions of comfort and safety for the population of the region, as well as the thousands of tourists who seek out the Algarve for the enjoyment of their vacations.”

Infraestruturas de Portugal now is responsible for all of the EN125 after the concession holder threw in the towel in early July, complaining of not having been paid.

The current emergency road works have widely been appreciated by the local population who now expect a start date for the 'EN125 eastern section upgrade,' to make the road as smooth and roundabout filled as the western section.
