Albufeira Council pressured to act over illegal bullfighting publicity

bullfightingThe Left Block in Albufeira wants the Council to start doing its job and issue a fine to the organisers of bullfighting events in the city as an advertising car was driving around promoting a forthcoming event last August 17th, well after the after 8:00pm advertising cut-off time.

According to the Bloquistas, "on August 16 and 2018, at 9:19 pm, a publicity car at Albufeira's bullring was stopped at the traffic lights at the intersection between Rua dos Bombeiros Voluntários and Avenida dos Descobrimentos, broadcasting advertising through a loudspeaker."

The party says that 'the entity promoting the event must be supervised by the Council and, if necessary, be subject to a sanction as provided for in municipal regulations.”

The Bloquistas also asked that the Council, led by José Carlos Rolo, to "analyze the graphic advertising posted by the Albufeira bullring," as it promoted, "incentives with special prices for children under 12-years-old, when the law states that it is expressly forbidden for under 3s to witness bullfights and ´the Cultural Inspectorate does not recommend such practices."
