MonteReiVRSAThere are nine Portuguese hotels in the final line-up for the Condé Nast Johansens Excellence Awards 2019

Nine Portuguese hotels have been nominated in the ‘Europe and the Mediterranean,’ section.

... or maybe there are no Class A hotels in the Algarve compared to the hotels on the list.

As in any voting system, Fascist, Communist or plain biassed, it doesn´t matter who is voting, or how they vote. It is who is counting the votes that really matters.

This is just another marketing exercise on behalf of the hotel owners.

What happened that none of the hotels in the Algarve were part of the best hotels in Portugal, according to this Travel magazine.

Quoting Charly:
I do not understand how somebody WHO DID NOT/NEVER VISIT ONE OF THESE PLACES is able to give an OBJECTIVE JUDGEMENT about these hotels. In this case a SUBJECTIVE JUDGEMENT is definitely a WORTHLESS and a LUDUCROUS JUDGEMENT worthing nothing !

I suggest it is fairly pointless voting unless you have visited the venues.
