TAP flight to Lisbon diverts to Faro "to fill up"

airplaneA TAP flight that left from Madeira airport on Wednesday morning, destination Lisbon, was forced to land at Faro airport for a fill up.

According to a passenger report of flight TP1692, the airplane was scheduled to leave at 11.35, but took off late, at 12.25.

The adverse weather conditions and a build-up of flights aiming to land at Lisbon's Humberto Delgado airport, meant that air traffic control issued an order for the plane to circle, which it did for just under 15 minutes.

The pilot then informed passengers that he would have to divert to Faro with a degree of urgency, to fill up with fuel.

The airline has yet to comment.
