British 'Hard Enduro' bike rider dies in Monchique collision

INEM125A British motorcyclist, said to be a participant in the MadRon, ‘Hard Enduro’ bike trial, died on Friday after colliding with a minivan.

MadRon is the organiser of the GPS based ‘Hard Enduro’ off-road biking experience around the forests and mountains in the Monchique area - running from Thursday, to Sunday 11th November.

The GPS based endurance ride, including extreme feature sections, is based at the Macdonald Monchique Hotel and includes a promise of ‘four hard days riding and great nights of partying,’ according to the madron.co.uk website

The 28-year-old rider, Paul Raine from North Yorkshire, died when he collided with the minivan on the EN267 in Marmelete, Monchique. An organiser stressed that the accident had happened on the road and was nothing to do with the event.

Raine had flown out to Portugal with friends for a trail riding holiday when he decided to take part in the MadRon Hard Enduro for a day.
