To the horror of late night revellers, ASAE officers have busted two kebab wholesalers in Faro that have been handling and storing frozen meat without hygiene licences - both of these distribution businesses have had to suspend trading.
ASAE reported that the businesses stored food of animal origin, aka, kebab meat, that requires a controlled temperature in a cold store but that the businesses did not have authorisations from the veterinary service which checks hygiene processes.
One of the businesses did not even have an operating licence so both have had to cease trading and will be fined for selling meat without the correct hygiene and storage approvals.
Trading has been suspended at both cold stores from which 30,919 kilogrammes of frozen rolled of kebab meat, worth approximately €90,110, was removed, to the cheery delight of vegetarians.
