A man was stabbed in the Forum Algarve shopping centre on Wednesday afternoon. The assailant, well known to the police, ran off and is in hiding.
An unexpected meeting between two men who held old grievances ended in an argument and a stabbing.
A video of the assault, which occurred at around 3pm, is circulating on social networks.
In the pictures one sees the attacker with a weapon in his right hand stabbing a man who, in the middle of the argument, falls to into the Santa Claus Village area.
The assailant, identified as António Damião who is well known to the police after serving an eight year, eight month sentence for drugs offences, fled the scene. Damião had received an extra long sentence as he was carrying an illegal weapon when he was arrested.
Despite the seriousness of the assault, the victim received non life-threatening stab wounds to his back and has been able to help the police with their inquiries.
