Road operator Brisa reported today that a slight economic improvement enabled a lower revenue decline for 2013.
Brisa profits reduced in 2013 by 0.7% to €27.5 million. The company said that the slowdown in the contraction of the Portuguese economy showed a slower loss in traffic than in 2012.
"In 2013 the average daily traffic on Brisa Concession Roads was 2.6% down on the year before. The mileage travelled on the network was down 2.8%.”
Operating income decreased 1.7% to €439.6 million with toll revenues contributing €427 million, 1.2% less than in 2012.
The road network received investment of €28.9 million.
The company reported "a sustained improvement in traffic volume throughout the year culminating with positive growth in the fourth quarter of 2013."
The company’s operating profit of €162.4 million was down 4% compared to 2012.
