A crash between two cars this afternoon, on the EN124 Lagoa to Silves road, left an elderly couple seriously injured.
The accident, near the underpass on the hill to the south of Silves, left a 21-year-old woman with slight injuries.
All those injured were rushed to Faro hospital.
The alert was given at 4:48 pm and the Silves firefighters, based nearby, were soon at the spot.
Bombeiros from Lagoa and Messines joined in the rescue and clear-up operation with an emergency medical team giving front line support to the victims.
