Portuguese national, Wilham Mendes, 25, died after being stabbed several times during a robbery on Saturday. His identity was revealed on Monday night.
Mendes, an amateur boxer, was attacked in a crowded alleyway on Saturday morning and was found shortly after one o'clock on December 22nd, at Albert Place, in Tottenham where he lived - he had several stab wounds.
Mendes was rushed to a London hospital but was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
"My team's preliminary investigation established the possibility that Wilham was stabbed during a robbery," said Glen Lloyd of the London Metropolitan Police, asking anyone who might have information on the incident to get in touch, however small the detail.
Police arrested two teenagers on Sunday, suspected of being responsible for the Portuguese national’s death. The boys, aged 15 and 16, are being held for questioning, but Lloyd added that, "the investigation continues," and stressed the tragedy of "an innocent and promising young man who was brutally murdered on the street."
Later, on Christmas Eve, the two boys, who cannot be named because of their age, were charged with the murder of Mendes, Scotland Yard said.
The boys, who are also charged with robbery, will appear in custody at Westminster magistrates court on Wednesday 26 December.
During 2018, more than 130 people have been killed in London. The Sun newspaper writes that there has not been a period of more than 16 days without a homicide in the capital.
