A 27-year-old Irish man, who fell 30 metres off a cliff face at Praia da Ingrina in Vila do Bispo, has been seriously injured.
The man was rescued and transported by helicopter to Faro Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
Scaling the cliff, the climber fell off about 30 meters above the ground and suffered injuries to his spine that are affecting his lower limbs.
The Maritime Search and Rescue unit of the Portuguese Navy received a call at 5:20 pm and the Captain of the Port of Lagos coordinated the rescue by Maritime Police, INEM and a team of Vila do Bispo firefighters, "due to the difficult access by land.”
