Riding on the wave of interest in the region’s food, the first Congress of Gastronomy of the Algarve is being launched in Faro this March.
The three day event is a blend the latest in food innovation, plenty of tastings and debates on food, sustainability and the future of gastronomy in the region.
"The goal is to bring together the best in the region and create a forum where we can discuss real issues and share ideas," commented Maria Nobre de Carvalho, the event organiser.
The venue is the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School in Faro with ample room for debates, demonstrations, tastings, the presentation of new cooking techniques and explanation of the trends that are shaping the industry across the region.
"The concept of the event is not new, but it is the first time it has been done in the Algarve. We are in a very rich gastronomic area and, as such, it makes sense to create a space that is a reference for gastronomy in the Algarve," said the organiser.
By bringing together some of the best chefs in the country, professionals from the world of catering and tourism, brand ambassadors, sommeliers and mixologists, the Algarve gastronomy congress will give the best professionals in the sector an informal environment in which to make contacts and show what’s new and innovative.
Anyone who has a passion for food, drink and innovation will benefit, whether working in a restaurant or bar, for a supplier or manufacturer or working in a hotel.
The purpose of the event is to bring together people from all areas of the industry and offer a unique platform for sharing knowledge, information and inspiration.
