The founder of ElBulli told journalists that his new foundation is now 95% complete.
Ferran Adrià unveiled his plans for a “cooking laboratory” and museum along with a database of recipes.
Adrià, 51, is responsible for creating the renowned elBulli restaurant which was five times voted the best restaurant in the world by Britain’s Restaurant magazine.
There the Catalan star chef and his team used advanced technology to analyse food and rebuild it in intriguing ways to the acclaim of critics.
He closed the restaurant in July 2011 and has spent the last three years converting it into a training and research centre.
It will have three parts, including an exhibition on the history of cooking called elBulli 1846 and a cooking research "laboratory" named elBulli DNA.
The laboratory will host "40 people from around the world, from cooks to designers to architects", Adrià said. "We will work on efficiency and innovation and the final result will be about cooking and will be published on the internet."
The third part of the foundation will be the "Bullipedia", a "gastronomic encyclopedia" including a database of recipes and ingredients.
The new elBulli will be in the same premises as the old, which lie in a nature reserve about two hours’ north of Barcelona near the coastal resort of Roses.
