The German supermarket group, Lidl, has opened a new store in Boliqueime, its 15th in the Algarve.
The new store will employ 23 people, bringing the total to 370 in the region.
The opening ceremony was attended by Nélson Brazão, the President of Boliqueime parish Council.
The new store was built with the environment in mind, with low-energy equipment and LED lighting to reduce the ecological footprint of the 1,400 m2 space.
To commemorate the store opening, goods were donated to two local charities: Centro Social e Comunitário de Vale Silves and the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Boliqueime.
The Lidl store for Boliqueime is located at Av. Professor Aníbal Cavaco Silva and is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Lidl has been in Portugal for more than 20 years and has over 250 stores in the country.
