Prisoners have been taking part in cleaning, maintenance and repair work in Olhão.
Under the collaboration between the Prison in Olhão and the local Council, the inmates have been on day release to help out in a variety of maintenance tasks and repairs to equipment.
This year, the work is being carried out in the Moncarapacho and Fuseta parishes between April 1 to May 10, with six inmates selected to join the initiative.
During this period, clearance work also is planned on the island of Armona.
The scheme is being monitored by the Council which hasn’t lost one yet.
