Hmm.
A lot of rattling on about who didn't bother to vote. Why vote if you feel you are not going to be represented or don't trust those same said people. It just goes to show you how out of touch your political parties are with the people ..

Laurinda, according to your numbers the biggest looser by abstention was the Algarve by not voting. I know what you mean, but I have difficulty in seeing this as a win. The people have voted, you can not reverse this until the next election.

Firm grip? Media are obsessed with which party comes 1st, but with so may parties getting substantial votes, this is less meaningful. Same in the UK where even at peak Brexit more voted for Remain or 2nd referendum supporting parties than for Farage's new and old vehicles.

Yep, those who voted for the SNP or the Green Party did so because the want to Remain in the EU. And let's not include in the Leave count those voting Lab or Tory who both stood on a Leave platform.
You Remainers keep deluding yourselves. I'll bet you still think the Referendum result was all about immigration.

Listening in to the sales pitches of the Portuguese MEP candidates and their homeland supporters there was nothing about what Portugal could do to grow the EU economy and make its member states administration and judiciary more fair and so effective; amongst much else. A core complaint of the more developed EU which has long questioned why its citizens can be born into or are protected by certain basic EU Rights that do not exist for them in less evolved member states. The entire focus for this election, that was also a brief topic on Euronews, was on getting their man into the Commission to lead the Cohesion Fund. As some 80% of Portugal's infrastructure spending comes from this (by far the highest in the EU) to make sure their rodent got his snout further into the trough and kept it in longer than the other rodents.

34% of votes = ONLY 9% of population!

The BIGGEST WINNER was the ABSTENTION PARTY! Algarve 73,1%
