The Algarve Tourist Board has launched a virtual marketing campaign using Algarve-based Facebook account holders. The 'Secret Spreaders - guardians of the Algarve' promotion aims to change internet users into new tourists.
Until the end of April anyone with a Facebook profile is encouraged to promote the Algarve.
By visiting the website http://www.visitalgarve.pt/segredo participants can answer a questionnaire to define their profile from seven predetermined Algarve options, sports, the sea, the mountains, holidays, etc .
At the end, a short video will be played based on the responses and whoever gets the most ' likes' can win prizes such as a weekend in a hotel or vouchers.
The idea is that people who join the initiative spread their ‘Algarve secrets’ to friends via the clip created after answering the questionnaire, and spread the word on this social network.
"We've taken the concept of marketing the Algarve as the most famous secret of Europe" and transposed it to this promotional campaign in which participants assume the role of 'secret spreaders’ for the region," said the president of the Tourist Board, Desiderio Silva.
The promotion ends on April 30th and lists prizes from Pedralva village, Castro Marim Golf & Country Club and the Real Marina Hotel & Spa.
