National Maritime Authority rescues 12 people from cave in Lagoa

cave saveThe Pedro Jorge Casimiro Cardoso Lifeboat Station and the Portimão Maritime Police Local Command were mobilized yesterday after they received a call at 2:56 pm to rescue 10 passengers and two crew from a sea-going tourist vessel that had become stranded inside the spookily named “Crocodile Cave” in the municipality of Lagoa due to a malfunction in their boat’s propulsion engine.

The rescue involved, in addition to members of the Maritime Authority, a rescue motorcycle from the Castaway Aid Institute of Benagil beach, and a sea-tourism vessel belonging to a different company. After the rescue, there was no need for any medical assistance for the rescued people.
