The Pedro Jorge Casimiro Cardoso Lifeboat Station and the Portimão Maritime Police Local Command were mobilized yesterday after they received a call at 2:56 pm to rescue 10 passengers and two crew from a sea-going tourist vessel that had become stranded inside the spookily named “Crocodile Cave” in the municipality of Lagoa due to a malfunction in their boat’s propulsion engine.
The rescue involved, in addition to members of the Maritime Authority, a rescue motorcycle from the Castaway Aid Institute of Benagil beach, and a sea-tourism vessel belonging to a different company. After the rescue, there was no need for any medical assistance for the rescued people.
