A man who is suspected of forging banks drafts in 2011 and 2012 to obtain free fill-ups at many of the Algarve’s filling stations, has at last been arrested and charged with eight counts of forgery.
The 50-year old suspect may have issued as many as eight forged bank guarantees using a stamp from a credit institution recognised in the Algarve. The signatures were supposedly those of the authorised signatories but were forged.
The detainee has been charged and must report to the police every two weeks pending trial. He must not leave the country, which may be a good option.
