After four days of a consecutive increase, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) confirmed this Thursday 399 new cases of Covid-19 in Portugal. The number is the highest daily jump since July 10, when 402 infections were announced. This means that there have now been 56,673 cases of the novel coronavirus in Portugal.
Lisbon and Vale do Tejo returned this Thursday to be the Portuguese region most affected by the pandemic, with 186 of the 399 confirmed cases and two deaths confirmed by the DGS daily bulletin. Both of these were over 80 years old.
Across the country, the number of deaths rises to 1,809 since the beginning of the pandemic, with the Northern region remaining the one with the most victims since the beginning of the pandemic - 846, 190 more than in Lisbon. This is likely due to the disproportionate elderly population living in the northern regions of the country.
Despite not being the region where the most cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, the North continues to see a significant increase in infections - this Thursday, 161 infections were revealed by the DGS, 52 more than on Wednesday. This means that this is seeing its highest numbers since May.
Following the North was the Centre of the country, with 26 cases new cases today. The Alentejo registered eight new cases of infection, with the Algarve also registering just eight, and Madeira seven. The Azores have three more infections confirmed.
Regarding the patients who managed to overcome the virus, there were 173 more recovered patients today, bringing the total to 41,357 since the start of the pandemic.

You seem averse to heeding warnings Steve. More fool you if you want a virus in your computer as well as your body.
Damn! After the latest bout of madness here I was thinking I would buy some to help me find their safe space.
I would ignore Steve and David if I were you.
BTW they've run out of tin foil at Pingo Doce.
It is a link to Twitter with the headline "THIS LINK MAY BE UNSAFE " then it gives reasons why it could be unsafe and I have a choice to go back or to ignore the warning and continue. As Twitter is renowned for fake news I chose the first option.
Reg the link has nothing to do with spam and it is definitely not malicious. As for misleading it is up to the person that reads to make that decision and not Twitter.

Why are you posting a twitter link that is deemed SPAM, MALICIOUS and MISLEADING?
