The party with about 20 people, held as part of a service employee's farewell, was held at the headquarters of the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), in Oeiras, without authorisation from the national management.
So far, four employees have been diagnosed with Covid-19 after the illegal event was held, according to government rules, which prohibit gatherings.
Faced with these statements, the direction of SEF clarified that the party, organised about two weeks ago, was not authorised and an internal process has been openend to determine the next steps.
After learning of what happened, SEF immediately proceeded to disinfect the spaces, to protect the remaining workers.
SEF said that he only learned about what happened "after the emergence of four cases of covid-19 in workers who work in the SEF headquarters building".
