The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will consult this afternoon with political parties with parliamentary seats over the telephone on the renewal of the state of emergency after testing positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
This information was disclosed through a note on the Presidency of the Republic's website, which also reads that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa "has already carried out a new test with INEM" for the diagnosis of the new coronavirus, "the result of which will be known within some hours".
The head of state cancelled the scheduled hearings for political parties today after learning, on Monday night, that he had tested positive for the new coronavirus.
However, he did another test, with a negative result, and is now awaiting the result of a "confirmatory test" carried out by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who is in isolation at the Palace of Belém in Lisbon, is attending, by videoconference, this morning's meeting at Infarmed on the epidemiological situation of Covid-19 in Portugal.
