Quoting Mikey:
With two schools re-closed in Faro on Friday, I'm not sure I agree with Chip that Portugal is winning the battle. Doing better, thats for sure but short of a rapid vaccination program, which isn't going to happen, I fear the next wave is just around the corner. As long as the EU continues to play politics with the efficacy and distribution of vaccines normality, or even near normality is a pipe dream

You may be right Mikey. The figures of cases and deaths nationally do seem to have levelled off, although they are much better than previously.
It seems that vaccinations are the key to ending the lockdowns, but they seem a long way off.

Tend to go with Mikey on this as well. Think we are on a knife edge as to which way things will go. The vaccine could have been a game changer, but EU problems along with the usual beauracratic inertia here makes that a real long shot now. I also do not see us going back to full lockdown again, don't think there is any will left for it in the population, business or the government. Limited controls, yes, but full lockdown, no. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Having said the above Portugal, like the UK, are winning the battle against Covid.
To stay that way they need to ramp up vaccinations and be sure that all visitors from abroad are properly checked before entry and totally ban travel from Brazil for the foreseeable future..
