The alert was received at the Albufeira Maritime Police Station at 3:48 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa), informing that a man was in cardiopulmonary arrest on the beach, having been immediately asssited by the local Maritime Police, a vehicle of the "SeaWatch" project, the Voluntary Firefighters of Albufeira, a Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER).
"The victim, a 62-year-old man of Spanish nationality, was on the beach when he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, where resuscitation manoeuvres were carried out while still on the beach," the statement said.
The man was later removed from the beach and "transported to a hospital unit by the Albufeira Voluntary Firefighters in critical condition".
